The Phone Numbers page shows virtual numbers assigned to the active workspace and the agents that answer them. Open APIs & Integrations → Phone Numbers from the product navigation. Although this area appears under integrations in the dashboard, this guide covers the user-facing number management workflow.

Review assigned numbers

The header shows Phone Numbers, Assigned: with an organization banner confirming that only numbers assigned to the active organization are shown. Use search to find a number or assigned agent. Filter the list by Active, Inactive, or All statuses. Select a number to open Phone number details with assignment, billing, and provider details: status, organization, assigned agent, created by and creator email, assigned on and deactivated on, rental status and dates, Phone Number ID, provider SID (ExotelPhoneSID / ProviderNoID), workspace ID, and charge failures.

Buy a virtual number

  1. Select Buy Number.
  2. Wait for Loading available ExoPhones to complete. Only Mumbai (MU) numbers may be offered depending on availability.
  3. Choose the number you want from the radio list.
  4. Select Assign to Agent for the agent that should answer it.
  5. Review the displayed credit cost, for example Buy for 700 credits.
  6. Confirm the purchase.
The number appears in the workspace after a successful purchase with confirmation such as ExoPhone purchased successfully. 700 credits deducted. Availability and the number allowance depend on the workspace plan: Silver and Gold include 1 number, Platinum includes 3, Basic has no inbound number access. If the list shows No ExoPhones are currently available, refresh later or contact support. Deleting a number shows Delete Phone Number? and requires typing YES; deletion cannot be undone.
A number purchase uses workspace credits and may create recurring rental charges. Virtual number rental is charged per month per number. Confirm the assigned agent and cost before completing the purchase.

Before receiving calls

  • Confirm that the assigned agent has complete instructions and knowledge.
  • Test Speech to Text and Voice & Audio settings.
  • Configure greeting, ending, and human transfer behavior.
  • Place an external test call and review the saved conversation.
  • Check the rental and active status before publishing the number.

Go-live call script

Do not publish the number until this five-call sequence passes: one call from a mobile on the primary network, one from a different network, one during business hours expecting the agent, one outside business hours expecting the after-hours message, and one that requests a human transfer. Review all five transcripts before announcing the number - audio that sounds fine can still hide a wrong transfer or missed lead capture.

Reassign or release a number

To change which agent answers, open the number details and update the assignment, then place one test call to confirm the new agent answers - never assume the change applied. To release a number, confirm no inbound campaign references it, delete it with the YES confirmation, and verify the assigned count drops. Releasing does not refund past rental charges, so time releases for the end of the rental cycle where possible.
